NextDeveloper offers four career paths. Each path teaches you the skills for a specific role, but they share the same learning philosophy: read, code, get feedback, repeat.
The four paths
- Full-Stack Developer: Covers the whole stack — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, databases, and deployment. Best if you want to build complete products.
- Front-End Developer: Focuses on interfaces, accessibility, animations, and state management. Best if you love design and user experience.
- Back-End Developer: Focuses on servers, APIs, databases, and scalability. Best if you prefer logic, data, and architecture.
- Software Engineer: Covers computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system design. Best for interview prep and deeper engineering growth.
How to decide
- Check your experience level. Each path card shows the recommended starting point.
- Look at the skills list. If you recognize more skills in one path, that may be a sign to start there.
- Think about the job you want. Pick the role whose day-to-day work sounds interesting.
- Start with the free tier. You can always switch or upgrade once you know what fits.
Switching paths
Free and Path Plus users can focus on one path at a time. Pro and Teams users can access all paths simultaneously. To change your active path, visit your Account settings or start a lesson in the new path from the Dashboard. Your progress on the previous path is saved.
